Head Instructor

Julie began sailing classes with AYSC in 2004 and became a Junior Instructor for 2005.  She received her US Sailing Instructor certification in 2006, became AYSC's head instructor in 2007, and has been teaching ever since.  In 2009, Julie went through US Sailing Instructor Level 2 Coaching certification and began the Alpena Youth Racing Team. 

Julie was crew on AYSC's Yngling youth team in 2005 and skippered the youth boat in 2006 and 2007.  Alpena brought home the youth trophy in 2005 and 2007.

Julie is currently a junior at Central Michigan University where she is studying Electrical Engineering.

Scott

Mitchell

Scott took sailing classes through AYSC in 2004 and 2005.  He became a Junior Leader for 2006 and 2007 and went through US Sailing Instructor certification classes in 2008.

Scott was co-captain of the AYSC Yngling youth boat in 2007 and 2008.  He crewed on the 2nd place youth boat in 2007 and skippered the 1st place youth boat in 2008.

Scott is currently a junior at Midland High School.
